Review:
It’s everything that you could ever want in a romance novel, with a paranormal twist that’ll make those who are Halloween obsessed giddy with delight.
Perfect for toting to the beach, while you’re dipping your toes in the sand and soaking up the sun — all the while wishing autumn could hurry up and get here, already.
In terms of pacing, it’s definitely a slow burn, which is perfectly okay for me. I tend to enjoy my romances best when a friendship is established before things steam up.
Ashley Poston’s writing is witty, and the cast of characters she writes all have their own distinctive traits that make them feel real even if they’re more of a supporting character.
Plus, it contains so many scenes towards the end that’ll have you kicking and screaming with delight as you smile at your book like a lovestruck idiot.
Spice Level:
🌶️ — mild to medium! A couple of scenes where things get steamy, but overall a slow burn without much spice.
Also, THANKS Ashley Poston, you made me sob with this line. I don’t know how I’m ever going to recover.
“No one had ever thanked me for that before. For trying. Even though I was failing.”
Plus, an extra shout out to our main character, Florence, for perfectly describing my personal reasons for drinking coffee:
“I drink the battery acid juice so I can go zoom-zoom.“
